Featured Story from last month

About a year ago, I went through a really tough time. I went through depression. I self harmed and I hated everything little thing about myself. Everyday I would look in the mirror and cry because I hated what I saw, I hated me. My life was a mess, I even thought about ending it a few times. But music saved my life. I found something to live for. Music gave me hope. I found a connection to music unlike anything else. All my favorite bands kept me alive without even knowing it. Then on January 20th, 2012, I made the best decision of my life, I stopped self harming and I tried to love myself for who I am. Want to know what else happened on January 20th? It was the day I met you guys, Before You Exit. I can't say thank you enough for being one of the few reasons I stayed so strong and one of the reasons I refused to sink. I haven't self harmed since that day. And even though I still am insecure, I try to love myself for who I am, and music is a HUGE part in that. I've almost been a year self harm free, and I am so proud for not giving up on myself. I am proud of who I am now and the past is definitely an experience I learned from.

I really hope you found some inspiration to stay strong in my story and that it will help others going through the same thing. Always stay strong because things will always get better. You can't have a rainbow with out a little rain :)

  8. You just described my life. Unfortunately, I am still going through that, but Before You Exit has saved my life more than a couple times. Thank you for being such an inspiration.
